Cameroon lauded Saudi Arabia as a “faithful friend” to the country. Cameroon’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia made the remark during National Day celebrations. Ambassador Iya Tidjani said Saudi has been consistent in bolstering its economic progress.
Tidjani made a short speech in Riyadh last week in celebration of Cameroon’s 51st National Day. He noted that diplomatic relations between Saudi and his country started in 1966. He added that the connection between the two countries has since strengthened. Their cooperation also diversified. This was for the benefit of both Saudi and Cameroon.
The ambassador also extolled the signing of the General Cooperation Agreement. The agreement was then signed on Nov. 21, 2021, a day Tidjani called a new dawn for Cameroon. He also said this happened thanks to the will of President Paul Biya and King Salman. It was also thanks to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The agreement will bolster the superb historical relations between Cameroon and the Kingdom. Especially in the areas of agriculture, investment, and trade. It will also have a positive impact on sports and tourism. What’s more, it will help in the fight against terrorism.
The envoy said officials of both nations discuss vital international issues often. It’s one of the reasons Prince Faisal bin Farhan visited the country in October 2020.
Tidjani also expressed his government’s gratitude to Saudi Arabia during his speech. He thanked Saudi authorities for the extensive support they’re giving the country. He highlighted the economic aid Cameroon receives via the Saudi Development Fund. He also brought attention to Saudi’s annual medical caravan. It has been bringing medical care to Cameroon since 2000.
There’s a joint medical team based in Cameroon now. It’s led by the Al-Balsam Organization and KSrelief. The latter stands for the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
